Beginner mountain biker on the Starter Course flow trail at Ylläs Bike Park

Mountain Biking Starter Course

Master the fundamentals of riding technique in one focused session. The right start for anyone who wants to ride safer and more in control.

The Mountain Biking Starter Course is for riders who have just started and want to progress to more controlled and safer riding.

You'll learn the cornerstones of good riding technique and practice bike control safely on the training area. Trail etiquette and choosing bikes and gear for the terrain also become familiar. The course suits all riders whether you ride trails or the park. The goal is to make trail riding more controlled and safer for beginners.

The course works as a first course. Exercises are aimed at adults and those riding full-size mountain bikes. We recommend Pyörä-Werneri courses for children. For those with 50+ hours who have progressed, we recommend the technique course. You need a correctly sized mountain bike with hand-operated brakes on both wheels. Helmet and riding gloves are required. Hill Ski Rent can help with gear if needed.
