Sustainable Travel Finland label

Sustainable Travel Finland label

In 2022 we received the Sustainable Travel Finland label developed for tourism companies by Visit Finland. STF label has been renewed in spring 2025. We got the label as a result of a seven-step development path, which verifies the company's desire to develop sustainability and, for its part, minimize the carbon footprint of tourism.

Energy and carbon footprint

Carbon dioxide-free energy

Our Bike Park runs on fully carbon dioxide-free energy.

Carbon footprint

We calculate the carbon footprint regularly and the goal is to reduce it every year.

Solar panels

Gondol Restaurant at Ylläs top has solar panels on its roof, supplying energy for the café and the gondola top station.

Sustainability

Social responsibility

The majority of our staff is local, and our goal is to maintain operations all year round so that we can offer permanent employment. We have succeeded in growing our summer actions yearly.

We support local sports clubs and raise funds annually for children's and youth sports activities, for example through charity events.

Sustainability in Winter

Sustainability is an important part of our daily operations throughout the winter season in Ylläs Ski Resort.

The slope lighting is equipped with a control system that enables regular monitoring of energy consumption. The system allows the lighting to be controlled remotely and, when needed, automatically. The lights are only used when necessary.

Our snow groomers are equipped with the Snow Sat system, which helps optimise snow volumes on the slopes. Snow Sat helps prevent unnecessary snowmaking, reducing electricity consumption. The system also monitors driving efficiency and helps optimise fuel consumption.

Each year, we provide season passes free of charge to all preschool children in Kolari. In addition, all schoolchildren in Kolari are offered two free skiing days every year, and local daycare groups are invited to take a Gondola tour.

Recycling

Recycling system

We have made our recycling systems more efficient and we also want to encourage customers to recycle as efficiently as possible. We kindly ask everyone to do their part and avoid littering. There are several recycling bins throughout the Bike Park area.

Spare parts & supplies

We also recycle spare parts from work vehicles and other reusable supplies. Our professional mechanics repair vehicles and machinery to avoid purchasing new ones for as long as possible.
